"Tours of a Lifetime"
"Top 3, Best Values in The World"

jose martinez

Jose, also known as "Macho," was born and raised in the small rural town of La Suiza, 30 mins. from Turrialba, the heart of river rafting county in Costa Rica. He went to a high school that focus on conservation of natural resources, which marked him for life with a deep respect for nature and wildlife, and a love of the outdoors. Jose began guiding river trips in Costa Rica several years ago and more recently in California for Mariah Wilderness Expeditions.

Currently Jose is in training to become a Naturalist Guide. “River guiding will always be very special to me,” he says, “but I’m ready to move up and widen my range of skills and capabilities. Now, in preparation to be a Naturalist Guide, I’m also studying geography, history, biology, flora, fauna and even current affairs.”

Jose, 32, is an amateur photographer, who owns several SLR digital cameras and spends some of his free time shooting outdoors. He also likes to play soccer and basketball, or just relax at home watching TV or surfing the web. “As a bachelor I also do my fair share of cooking,” he adds, “although I prefer doing it for guests and not just myself.” Jose’s birthday is on Sep. 20, 1975.
