Although he was born and raised in San Jose, Clarence has spent a lot of time traveling inside and out of Costa Rica. He did all his studies in Costa Rica, mostly focusing on the tourism industry, but also completed a year of medicine.
He grew up enjoying the outdoors with his family and considers himself a true nature lover. “While I was still a kid, my parents would take us camping and we would explore places all over the country. I have always loved taking friends and clients to the country’s remote and beautiful places. When I discovered guiding as a career, it was a dream come true.”
Clarence has been guiding travelers from all over the world since 1989 and relishes sharing his knowledge, built on years of experience, of the native flora, animals and insects. Clarence is married and has a 17-year-old daughter, Nicole. He comes from a very large family of Sephardic Jews, originally from Spain.
