Ricardo, known as "Caro" in Tortuguero, was born on October 13, 1959, in Limon Province. He is one of five siblings. Before coming to Costa Rica Expeditions in 2004, Ricardo worked 14 years as a pile loader operator for Plywood Costa Rica in the town of Moin. After that, he started doing boat transfers between Moin and Tortuguero. Watching the local guides with their guests on Tortuguero’s creeks, led him to consider guiding as a profession. Ricardo improved his English and began guiding before coming to Costa Rica Expeditions. Ricardo enjoys talking to visitors and takes special pride in pleasing the guests on his tours by spotting hard-to-find wildife and getting them close enough for a good picture. In his spare time he enjoys playing soccer and playing “Caribbean” dominoes.
