Gerardo, also known as "Cola," was born on October 20th, 1949. Although he has only been with Costa Rica Expeditions since 2004, Gerardo has been guiding since 1969, when he started as a sport-fishing guide in Barra de Colorado. He learned to speak English just by hearing his guests talk and then decided to complement his newly acquired skill with more formal studies in tourism, choosing courses in “Attention and Guiding” and “Ethics in Tourism.” He has won the respect and friendship of many guests at Tortuga Lodge and is known for his permanent smile, hard work and flashy silver necklaces. Gerardo is originally from Barra del Colorado and enjoys reading in his spare time. He has four adult children.
