jorge jara ayub

After various school and family visits to some of Costa Rica's protected areas, Jorge became interested in the environment in high school. He decided that he would pursue environmental studies on his own while learning English at Columbus State University in Georgia. Today Jorge is well versed in many areas of nature; he has done courses on ornithology, medicinal plants, sea turtles, general natural history and others. He is currently finishing his degree in Management and Protection of Natural Resources at Cost Rica's National State University.

Jorge feels that guiding, which has been his profession since 1997, is his calling. It allows him to educate a large number of people about the importance of protecting the planet. A lot of his clients are "already converted" he says, but he's especially proud when he has successfully taught his guests about the urgency and importance of sustainable development.

When he's not guiding or working on his university degree, Jorge is either playing basketball or reading. He was born on May 31, 1977, and grew up in San Jose.
