Eva Arroyo Campos
Naturalist Guide

Born on June 12, 1986, in San José, Eva has three things that inspire her more than anything in life: one is love of the outdoors and the other is love of sports and art and the last love is for the ocean, a passion that she shares with many Costa Ricans, blessed with the luxury of having easy access to both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.

She credits her father, Edgar Arroyo, a Civil Engineer, graduated from the University of Costa Rica for the first. Edgar was responsible for the construction of the well-known Rainforest Aerial Tram very close to Braulio Carrillo National park. The project took 2 years to complete and during that time he would take Eva and her 3 brothers and sisters, with him on the weekends and they would follow him around the project. Eva remembers hiking with her Dad through the rainforest, learning to rappel and exploring. Those trips were the beginning of her passion for the tropical rainforest.

Her mother, Vilma Campos, also her Kinder Garden teacher and a dancer gets the credit for Eva’s second passion, love of sports and art. She thanks her mother for her high school track performance which has evolved into daily morning runs that help her charge her batteries for the day, her love of poetry and drawing.

During their many trips to the beach as a family Eva developed her third passion, for the beach and the ocean and consequently as many young Costa Rican’s do, she took up surfing.

After graduating as a high school teacher, Eva moved to the Nicoya Peninsula and up worked at a hotel. Given her outdoor hobbies one thing led to another and she started guiding day tours out of the hotel, she liked it so much that she decided to move back to San Jose and take the Natural History, Geography, History and Botany courses that she needed to be able to work as a guide.

Eva has now been working as a Naturalist & Multisport Guide; she also is a surf instructor. She is delighted to be part of our team.

When she’s not guiding she enjoys going to the beach or hiking with friends, reading and listening to poetry, singing and drawing.
