Diego Blanco
General Lodge and Operations Manager
Diego was born on November 3, 1981 in the city of Ciudad Quesada; a rural town
in the San Carlos region of Costa Rica. He grew up working on his father’s farms with his brothers and sisters.
His love of the outdoors led Diego to
study Tropical Biology at the University of Costa Rica. "My backyard was full of birds, bugs and even snakes," he says: "As a kid I observed all these creatures
with interest and developed a love of the outdoors and the wildlife of Costa Rica."
Diego began his career with Costa Rica Expeditions in 2006 leading
Multisport and Natural History vacations. After four years of guiding, we asked him if he would be interested in using his talents in the position of General
Manager for Costa Rica Expeditions’ Lodges, and he accepted. His perspective as guide has proven invaluable to Guest Delight at our lodges. So much so that
he still guides one or two trips a year.
Diego is an avid mountain biker and after a decade with his home town’s swim team he swam for the National
Team for two years. Diego spent a year in Belgium as a high school exchange student and later worked in Florida for six months in 2003.
When he is
not guiding, Diego likes to read, bike and spend time with his girlfriend, Jeanina and his family.
