| Begin the self-drive portion of your trip in San Jose. Your first destination is the Arenal area to view the active volcano and participate in optional activities such as mountain biking, wind surfing, hot springs and hiking (at additional cost). Next, you will drive to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. On Day 6, return your rental car in San Jose and take a chartered flight to the Osa Peninsula for two full days. Here you will have the chance to walk in the remote Corcovado National Park. End your trip with a scenic and exciting white water trip down the Pacuare River (min. age 12 years). |

| Begin with an exciting white water day trip down the Pacuare River. Then go to Costa Rica's Atlantic Coast to Tortuguero National Park, one of the last large areas of tropical rainforest in Central America. Here too is an important sea turtle nesting beach, where from June to Oct. thousands of turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. After exploring Tortuguero, fly back to San Jose and drive to the Arenal Volcano area. Next, explore the cloud forest of Monteverde and perhaps observe the elusive and beautiful Resplendent Quetzal (Jan.-July only). Your last few days will be in Manuel Antonio on the Pacific Coast. |
