WHAT THE GUIDEBOOKS SAY
Fodor’s Costa Rica 2004: "North of Alajuela, in the middle of a working coffee plantation and some well-tended gardens, the tranquil Xandari is a strikingly original inn. This brainchild of a talented couple—he’s an architect, she’s an artist—betrays aesthetic sensibility in everything from the design of the villas, to the contemporary furniture and bold, colorful artwork that fill them. The villas are spacious, with plenty of windows, large terraces and secluded lanais (sunbathing patios)."
Costa Rica Lonely Planet (2002): "This is a lovely, low-key resort with great views, walking trails, and waterfalls you can either gaze at or dive under. Many comforts are available, including a library, a video room (with nightly classic films), swimming pools, heated Jacuzzi, open-air exercise room and restaurant.”

FROM THE HOTEL'S WEB SITE
Xandari Plantation consists of 16 spacious villas and a spa village on a 40-acre coffee and fruit plantation overlooking Costa Rica's Central Valley and is the creation of architect Sherrill Broudy and artist Charlene Broudy, who envisioned a paradise reflecting the natural beauty of Costa Rica. The villas, private terraces, furniture and gardens are designed with great attention to detail, and each villa is adorned with original works of art. All villas have a private view terrace, a walled in sun area, a bar kitchen, and either a king bed or two full beds.
Over three kms of scenic trails through coffee and fruit orchards lead into a lush natural tropical setting with a year-round river and five beautiful waterfalls. Fruits, vegetables and herbs from the plantation's gardens complement Xandari's health-conscious specialty dishes. Add to this the warm personal attention of a dedicated staff... and it's simply paradise.
