WHAT THE GUIDEBOOKS SAY
Frommer's Costa Rica 2001 - "The Hotel Bougainvillea, in Santo Domingo de Heredia, is an excellent choice and great value if you are looking for a hotel in a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown. The views across the valley from this hillside location are wonderful, and the gardens are beautifully designed and well tended. The hotel's dining room features continental dishes and prices are quite reasonable. There is also a quiet bar just off the lobby and room service. The hotel's swimming pool is in its own private, walled garden and is quite attractive. There are tennis courts, a sauna, a jogging trail, and conference facilities."

FROM THE HOTEL'S WEB SITE
The Bougainvillea Hotel is an excellent choice if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a quiet residential neighborhood not far from downtown. As you stroll through this hotel's tranquil gardens, you'll easily forget that you're just 15 minutes from San Jose. Set amidst the coffee farms of Santo Domingo de Heredia, the hotel has an extensive private garden surrounded by tall trees.
Step back from the downtown hustle and bustle to that quiet place between the mountains where country roads and villages, fresh breezes, and never ending spring seasons (average temperature 70ºF) invigorate and renew.
Rooms are large with two double beds, a sitting area and the full range of facilities. Each has a balcony offering marvelous views of the mountains one one side and the San José skyline on the other. Balconies opening from rooms display a marvelous view of the mountains on one side and the San José skyline on the other.
Each of the eighty-three rooms has twin double beds, tub or shower, and a separate seating area. There are also five Junior Suites and six rooms for disabled people. The furniture is especially made of Costa Rican hardwoods and all rooms have cable TV. |
WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY:
Jan. 24, 2007"We liked the hotels you recommended."
We were very well satisfied with Costa Rica Expeditions, from the pick-up at San Jose Airport, including welcome help in getting through customs to the conclusion of our trip. We liked the hotels you recommended, the Bougainvillea Hotel near San Jose and Villablanca Cloud Forest Hotel. The drivers we had on all transfers were helpful and spoke enough English for us to communicate. We liked your country and would like to return and when we do we will use your services. -John & Barbara Donahue |
